Amy opens our new short game area
Golfing superstar Amy Boulden praised our new short game area when she visited us to open the facility.
During the visit, which took place on Wednesday, November 18, Boulden was presented with a plaque to mark the opening before giving a short game masterclass with pupils and taking part in a question and answer session.
She said: “It was a great day and I am very impressed with the facilities here.
“Learning and improving your short game is something that I feel is essential, as it is probably the hardest part of the game to master, and giving pupils the chance to practice it on a regular basis will be a huge benefit for them.
“It is fantastic that Rydal Penrhos is promoting young golfers and allowing them a platform to develop their game, and there aren’t many short game facilities at golf courses that are better than this.”
Mr Richardson, said: “It was a fantastic day and one that staff and pupils enjoyed immensely.
“It has taken a lot of time and effort to get the Golf Academy up and running, and receiving praise from a player of Amy’s stature really makes all the hard work worthwhile."
A pair of our pupils achieved phenomenal success at a golf event in Scotland.
Louisa Weber and Wilson Reyhan came away with the Team Nett title at the ISGA Scottish Open, held at the Kings Acre Golf Club, Midlothian.
If that wasn't enough, Louisa also claimed individual honours, securing the Overall Nett competition and the Girl’s Nett/Gross trophy.
She took home the individual nett title after shooting a 77 on the day, a score that was brought down to 62 in accordance with her handicap.
American Wilson carded an 81 score for his 18-holes, which gave the pair an overall nett total of 134 - enough to take the Overall Nett title from Loretto B, who finished one shot back in second place.
