Rydal Penrhos remembers fallen heroes
Fallen War heroes and veterans were honoured at a Remembrance Day Service in Colwyn Bay.
A host of our staff and pupils once again played a significant part in the event, which took place on Sunday, November 8 at Queen’s Gardens.
A large crowd gathered near the war memorial to pay respects to those who had fought and died during battle, with pupil Eddie Farrell playing the trumpet following the two minute silence at 11am.
The service was conducted by Reverend Christine Owen, before the parade moved on to St Paul’s Church.
Dignitaries at the service included Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar and Councillor Sibani Roy, mayor of Colwyn Bay.
The school community came together to remember veterans at a special Armistice Day Service.
Staff and pupils gathered at the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, November 11, where a service was held before a two minute silence at 11am to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front.
During the service there were readings from a number of pupils, including Shaswath Ganapathi and Hannah Cashell, in addition to a host of different languages that are represented at the school.
Following the service 91 individually named crosses were planted in the Memorial Quad to commemorate the members of the school who lost their lives during the two World Wars.
