Mrs Pyves reflects on successful season
Mrs Pyves heaped praise on her young hockey players after another successful season.
In another standout year for the group, our U9 side managed to keep their unbeaten run going in their age group.
Mrs Pyves, said: “Rydal Penrhos U9s have had a fantastic season, being beaten only once by an U10 team from Liverpool College.
“They have approached every match with the same feisty spirit and have notched up some impressive wins against The Ryleys (twice); Packwood Haugh and Terra Nova.
“They have a tremendous desire to win and this coupled with some impressive skill make them a real promise for the future.”
The teacher was also full of praise for the other year groups, who all performed well in the face of some stern competition throughout the year.
“The U11 team, captained by Philippa Smith-Edwards, won their first match against Abbeygate, but sadly lost to Liverpool College, Packwood Haugh and Terra Nova,” added Ms Pyves.
“However the U10s enjoyed a friendly tournament at Terra Nova and were pleased to win one of their matches and were also delighted to beat Liverpool College convincingly."
Pembroke house continued their domination of our inter-house tournaments by taking home the Hockey crown.
After the boys took home the football title in a close run affair, the house girls matched their male counterparts to make it a Pembroke double for the term.
They were intent on making a statement straight from the opening whistle of their first contest, and were very clinical in-front of goal as they defeated Brecon 6-0.
The title was confirmed when the talented young hockey player’s narrowly edged out Snowdon 2-1 to take the coveted trophy.
