Head reflects on outstanding term
Mr McDuff has been reflecting on another standout year for the Prep School.
There have been a host of impressive collective and individual achievements from pupils and staff this year, and Mr McDuff was full of praise for everyone who contributed to the success.
He said: “The children have all been incredibly busy this year whether in the classroom or on trips to places that help broaden their education such as Llanrug, the Llandudno Mosque and Manchester City training ground.
“All in all it has been a most successful year and I congratulate the pupils on their many achievements.
“We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by good friends, caring parents, and a dedicated professional teaching and support staff.”
There were many impressive accolades for both pupils and the school in general, which has recorded significantly above national average levels in Reading, Writing and Maths as reported to the Education Committee.
In addition there was also notable success with the school’s skiing programme, with captain Chay Bonnington adding to his impressive list of trophies by claiming U12 North Wales Snowsports Club Championships and the British Alpine Racing Ski Club Indoor Ski Championships while racing for Wales B.
The school’s swimmers also put up an excellent showing in the Urdd regional finals with Osca Clark and John Williams qualifying for individual races in the national finals alongside boys’ relay teams (u9 and u11, freestyle and IM) and mixed relay team (u11 IM).
As part of the pupils’ curriculum the school has visited a number of attractions including the Liverpool Egyptian Experience, Welsh Mountain Zoo and the Manchester City Football Club academy.
"Looking back over this year, I have been struck by just how generous our Rydal Penrhos community is, both with time and money,” he said.
“My personal favourite event is the Secrets Room and we were delighted to raise £670 for Rwamahano Primary School in Uganda.
“This came on top of raising £304 for Jeans for Genes, £300 for Diabetes UK and £338 for Children in Need; a grand total of over £1,600 for the term.
“We also gave a large number of harvest gifts to Action Children. Thank you to all who helped organise and run these events and to you all for generously supporting them.”
