Pupils enjoy a feast of festive fun
The curtain came down on term with our annual Christmas Carol concert.
Pupils, staff and parents gathered at St John’s Church on Wednesday, December 16 for the service, which was taken by Rev’d Sissons.
After a warm welcome from Mrs Hind, the congregation sang 'O little town of Bethlehem' before Rev’d Sissons began speaking about the importance of Christmas and the things people expect during the holiday season.
There were also a number of readings throughout the service from pupils as well as a wonderful recreation of the nativity scene which was narrated by Rev’d Sissons with hymns from the school choir.
Mr McDuff concluded the service with a closing speech, before everyone made their way back up to the Prep School for delicious seasonal refreshments before the Christmas break.
Mr McDuff, said: “It was a wonderful service and it is great to see pupils’ having fun while remembering just what Christmas is all about.
“Rev. Sissons always does a superb job of grabbing both the children’s and parents’ attention with fun activities to do during the service which entertained everybody and ensured that everybody went home with plenty of festive cheer."
A number of our talented actors and actresses thrilled audiences over two days at the school's annual Christmas Musical performance.
This year’s crop of budding actors chose to perform a version of the Walt Disney classic Cinderella, which took place on Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday 10.
A packed school hall saw the pupils put in performances that defied their age, and were led by Matilda Trueman, who played the would-be princess Cinderella.
There was also an outstanding performance from Fflur Roberts as the Fairy Godmother, who wowed the crowd with her fine signing and quick-witted lines.
The enviable casting of the ugly sisters went to Lily Copeland, Charlotte Payne, Cammie de la Mare Norris and Ellie Knight, with all playing the part of villains superbly.
A series of fine group singing and dancing was evident throughout, and the play was brilliantly narrated by pupil Lucy Ranales-Griffiths.
The play ended with a magnificent sing-along with all members of the cast, and the pupils received a standing ovation on what was another very successful performance to send everyone home full of festive cheer.
Mr McDuff, said: “It was a wonderful musical and everyone involved is to be congratulated for all their hard work both before and during the show."
Our staff and pupils brought the curtain down on the school year in style with a series of events.
On Tuesday, December 15, pupils and staff put on their best fancy dress for the annual parade, which this year had the theme of the letter A.
Once again there was a tremendous amount of effort put in from all years, with the standout pupils receiving a special prize for their fancy dress efforts.
Staff also got into the Christmas spirit by donning fancy dress, including Mr McDuff who dressed as a suited ape for the occasion.
Following the parade there was a special visitor, as Father Christmas himself descended on the school to hand out gifts to pupils.
The final stage of events saw our annual pre-prep Christmas party, where pupils sung and danced their way to the end of the school day.
Mr McDuff, said: “The staff here at the Prep School like dressing up almost as much as the pupils, and it was great to see everybody in the festive spirit before we break up.
“Everyone involved at the school has worked immensely hard throughout what has been an unbelievable year of achievement, and both pupils and staff had a fabulous time and enjoyed what were a busy day of activities.”
A group of pupils brought some festive cheer to the Colwyn Bay branch of a major international bank.
Our choir spent the afternoon on Monday, December 14 singing Christmas carols and hymns in-front of staff and customers of Barclays Bank before their holidays.
