Pupils showcase skills at Manchester City
Our U8 side pupils had the chance to compete in a tournament at a major football venue this term.
The team took on four others at a Football Festival held within the Manchester City Etihad Academy facility on Wednesday, October 7.
During the course of the day the team performed well, narrowly losing 1-0 to St Mary’s, before 2-0 losses to both Manchester Grammar School and Altrincham Prep.
Their fine play throughout the festival finally got its reward in their final game with a 1-0 victory over Hale Prep, whom they had never beaten previously.
Mr McLeod, said: “The boys did fantastically well against some good opposition, and a special mention should go to Biv, Cieran and Theo for their outstanding play."
Our U11 side travelled to the Etihad Academy Complex on Wednesday, October 14.
During the visit the pupils took part in an IAPS Tournament, where they tested their skills against four other teams that were visiting the £200million site.
Despite losing three and drawing one game, the team performed well against stronger and more experienced opposition and emerged from the mini-tournament with a great deal of credit.
Year 1 pupils also had the privilege of visiting the Manchester City Academy Etihad complex on Wednesday, September 30.
During the trip they were given specialised coaching tips during sessions run by Manchester City’s academy staff, and they also took part in an informal tournament to finish off the day.
The budding football stars performed exceptionally throughout the tournament and were agonisingly close to winning the event, but a penalty shootout defeat in the final meant they had to settle for runners-up.
Congratulations to Pembroke house, who took home this year’s inter-house football tournament.
The team were made to work hard from house counterparts Brecon and Snowdon but managed to hold off their respective challenges to win by a comfortable margin of four points.
This was in no small part to the performance of the Year 5 and 6 team, who did not concede a goal in their two contests to take maximum points.
After a goalless draw between Snowdon and Brecon, Pembroke then edged out Snowdon 1-0 before putting in their best performance by beating Brecon 2-0.
The impressive displays took the pressure off the Year 3 and 4 team, who all-but sealed the tournament with a hard fought 2-1 win over Brecon.
Snowdon and Brecon played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, before the former gave Pembroke their first loss of the day with a 2-0 defeat.
Final standings saw Pembroke crowned champions with nine points from a possible 12, with Snowdon back in second on five points and Brecon sitting in third with two points.
