Group visit former nuclear bunker
History pupils visited a nuclear bunker as part of their study on the Cold War.
The 35-strong Year 11 group took a trip to Cheshire on Thursday, January 28, where they visited the former Government owned Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, situated in Nantwich.
During the trip pupils were able to see the 1980s style computers and radar systems which were installed as part of Britain’s defence system against potential Soviet attack.
They also sat in a nuclear shelter with the sounds of a simulated nuclear attack being broadcast outside.
The first military use of the area was in World War II, when a Starfish site was established at Hack Green.
Mr Price, said: “It was a fascinating trip and no doubt will help the pupils understand a key aspect of the Cold War.”
