MP David Jones visits committee
We had the honour of welcoming Clwyd West MP David Jones this term.
The long standing MP was given a warm welcome and our Eco Committee presented him with a special card as part of his visit.
The committee have been learning about the variety of problems facing our world, such as climate change and how animals and their habitats are being endangered by human actions.
In preparation for the visit, they drew messages on green hearts which said what they loved about the world and special wishes for the future. These were then assembled into one large heart for display inside the school.
Inside the card presented to Mr Jones by Ethan Bytheway, was a message for him to share about the pupils’ wish for action against climate change to help protect the world.
Katie Pritchard-Jonas was named as a runner-up in the Design a Panda competition, which was organised by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature.
More than 3,000 schools took part in the scheme, with Katie named amongst a handful of runners-up and received a certificate and goodie bag for her efforts.
On their templates, pupils were encouraged to design their panda to reflect what the WWF does to protect animals and their environment.
Mrs Woodthorpe, said: “We were delighted with the children’s enthusiasm for designing their panda picture, and their knowledge about endangered animals and the problems which affect our planet.
“It was fantastic to see their ideas reflected in such colourful designs.”
