Pupils sing with celebrity
A group of our pupils got the chance to sing with a national celebrity at a recent event.
Three pupils were part of the choir at St Asaph Cathedral for the visit of renowned signer Aled Jones on Friday, May 13.
Upper sixth pupil, James Sanders, sang with the Lay Clerks, while Arthur Hind and Prep pupil, Caitriona Searl, were members of the choir that performed with Aled, who shot to stardom with the hit Walking In The Air.
The concert was held as part of the singer and TV presenter’s tour of Cathedrals across the UK, which will see him visit four in Wales and 22 in total.
Alan McGuinness, the Cathedral’s Director of Music, said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for our choristers and lay clerks to sing alongside such an established performer as Aled.
”The concert was very well attended and with such superb acoustics in the Cathedral we hope to attract other artists in the future."
Mr Wright added: “It was great that pupils from both sites got the chance to perform with such a prestigious singer, and I’m sure it was a wonderful experience for all of them.
“Extra-curricular activities like this are something we strongly encourage here at Rydal Penrhos, and to perform in-front of such a large crowd with one of the best singers this country has produced is a huge honour.”
