Xmas Market cheque donated
A pupil-run Charity Committee handed over thousands to a Conwy hospice from a Christmas charity event.
The school’s inaugural Christmas Market took place on Friday December 11. The event was organised by Sixth Form pupils in aid of Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice.
A total of £2,260 was raised from the event, which was handed over to the Ty Gobaith Major Gifts Manager Sarah Kearsley-Wooller by Head Boy, Shaswath Ganapathi and Head Girl, Hannah Cashell.
Shaswath said: "The Christmas Market would not have been possible without the help of the fantastic committee members: Scarlet Salisbury, Emily Harrison, Anjalina Mitra, Connie McMahon, Molly Jones, Will Marston, Charlotte Owens, Adele Parry, Sanjita Kumar, Jack Sissons, Adam Sabri, Alice Walker, Elishia Philips and Katie Marston.
“We would also like to thank FORPs, Sarah Ritchie and Sarah James who have also helped us.
“The new Heads of the Charity Committee are Will Marston and Charlotte Owen, and they hope to continue this Christmas Market tradition so please come and support them next year."
Hannah, added: “It was a tremendous amount of hard work but when you see the total we raised then it was definitely worth it. Ty Gobaith do amazing things and we were happy to support their cause."
A staff member joined the fight against Cancer by taking part in a nationwide fundraising initiative.
Leah Crimes, head of Drama and English at the school, participated in the Race for Life in Rhyl on Wednesday, June 12.
She was raising funds for Cancer Research UK, and has set a target of £150 to contribute to the hundreds of thousands expected to be raised at similar events across the country.
Mrs Crimes, said: “I ran in memory of my Dad who died of cancer when I was 17.
“It really affected me and my family; I want to help to make sure no-one has to feel that again.”
