Prizegiving to mark achievements
A host of pupils were recognised for their fine efforts throughout the year at the school’s annual Speech Day event.
A large crowd descended on the Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 28, where Year 11 to Upper Sixth pupils were awarded numerous prizes to acknowledge their commitment to excellence throughout the year.
The special guest was Lord Roberts of Llandudno, a former president of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and member of Aberconwy Borough Council.
The awards ranged from sport to music, with all academic departments also nominating a standout pupil for an award.
Some of the big winners included Head Boy, Shaswath Ganapathi and Head Girl, Hannah Cashell, while the gifted pair of Anjalina Mitra and Lloyd Parry-Williams also picked up numerous prizes.
In addition to Lord Roberts, there were also speeches from Acting Head, Roger McDuff, Chair of Governors, Ian Morris.
Mr McDuff, said: “Speech Day is the highlight of the school year for many, and it is just reward for the pupils’ that have worked so hard to achieve their goals.
“It has been another exceptional year in terms of success here at Rydal Penrhos, with a wide range of achievements spanning across all departments.
“I would like to congratulate all pupils and staff for their wonderful efforts this year and to Lord Roberts for attending Speech Day.”
