Talented pupils showcase skills
Sporting stars competed for bragging rights at this year’s Sports Day.
Pupils descended on New Field for the annual showcase, which took place on Friday, May 27.
There were a host of events throughout the day in both track and field, with school houses fighting it out for the overall crown.
After a gruelling afternoon under the sunshine, Osborn house were crowned winners of the event, with Chino Iwobi and Alex Sharples picking up the trophy from Mr Boyd.
He said: “It was a fantastic occasion and it was wonderful to see so many people coming along to enjoy the action.
“We have enjoyed a wealth of sporting success so far this year across all platforms at Rydal Penrhos, and when you saw some of the performances here today it is not hard to see why.
“Our Sports Day is one of the most eagerly awaited events on the calendar and once again it did not disappoint.”
There was also a special guest at the event, with former pupil and record holder Roger Harrison-Jones starting this year’s Mile race.
Mr Harrison-Jones set the record when a pupil of Rydal back in the late 1950’s and his achievement still stands to this day.
