A-level group praised for exam performance
A group of talented drama pupils have been praised for their efforts in a special exam performance.
The Upper Sixth A-level group took to the stage last week over two nights for their exam performance, which was performed in-front of a live audience and filmed for examiners.
This year’s performance was an adaptation of the Mike Leigh play entitled Abigail's Party, which is described as a suburban situation comedy of manners, and a satire on the aspirations and tastes of the new middle class that emerged in Britain in the 1970s.
Adele Parry, Edward Lunt, Elishia Phillips, Lodovica Cadena Torrero and Tom Hamilton-Pritchard all gave outstanding performances over both nights and received praise from department head Mrs Crimes.
She said: “They were absolutely outstanding performances from Year 13 and I could not be more proud of all of them.
“They were absolutely sublime and hopefully this will be reflected in the grades they receive next summer.”
During rehearsals the group were also visited by Mr Smith, who added: “It was an absolute joy to watch some of the rehearsals on Friday. There was some frighteningly good acting from particular characters.”
