First pupils complete challenge
Gabriele Subkovaite, a Year 5 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, is the latest to complete the spelling initiative, which now makes it four pupils in total that have made it through the different stages.
Staff devised a new spelling challenge for pupils last year, which has three different levels each with 110 words.
The pupils have been encouraged to work towards their incremental targets of Gold, Silver and Bronze within each stage, and a host of certificates have already been issued as a result of their hard work since the initiative began.
The 10-year-old is the youngest pupil to complete the challenge so far, and follows Lily Davies, George Watkins and Jonathan Osbourne in achieving her Stage Three Gold award.
She received her certificate at Celebration Assembly on Friday, February 17, with Zac Roberts, Anna Heyes and Dylan Pugh also climbing one step further on the ladder in their pursuit of completion.
Mrs Hind, who started the scheme, said: “This challenge is something that has really inspired our pupils, and it is fantastic to see that the first pupils have completed the three stages.
“Gabriele worked incredibly hard to get over the final hurdle, and now Anna and Zac are also very close to finishing the challenge, as are a host of other pupils which is a fantastic achievement.”
