Year 7 visit Buddhist Centre
The Year 7 group visited the Kalpa Bhadra Buddhist Centre in Craig-y-Don, where they learnt more about the religion and community work that goes on at the facility.
Along with an introduction to all things surrounding the Buddhism religion and way of life, the centre’s Education Co-ordinator, Richard, spoke to the pupils about the projects they are currently working on throughout the area in the hope of making it a better place.
They were then given tips on meditation and how this can relieve stress, before participating in exercises involving breathing techniques.
This is the latest in a long line of educational trips undertaken by different departments throughout the year in a bid to enhance the learning experiences of each pupil at the school.
Mrs Murphy said: “Pupils responded very positively to the experience, which will not only be of benefit to their ongoing study of Buddhism, but also contribute in developing an understanding and appreciation for multi-faith communities, which is a key element of Religious Studies and a reflection of the ethos and values of the school.”
