Pupils embrace global initiative
As part of global initiative World Book Day, Year 7-9 pupils at the school came as their favourite characters from different books, with costumes ranging from Harry Potter to Alice from the smash hit Alice in Wonderland.
Miss Earle, said: “The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books, and it was fabulous to see so many of our pupils make an effort to support the very worthy scheme.”
There were a variety of activities throughout the day, including a “Drop Everything and Read” throughout every department, where pupils and staff stopped what they were doing in their respective lessons to read a book of their choice for 20 minutes before break.
Lower School also held a special book swap, where pupils brought in a plethora of reading material to trade with their classmates.
Posters were scattered all over school of favourite books, which were available to read in the staff common room.
“It is great that everyone was so involved, and we hope to have even more going on next year as part of World Book Day, which is something we are very proud to endorse here,” added Miss Earle.
