School hosts Rocket car comp
We hosted the open race meeting for a national engineering competition recently.
Eight schools from across North Wales took part in the Race for the Line Rocket Car competition, with numerous other similar events taking place throughout the UK.
More than 40 races took place during the day, with Year 8 pupils designing their own vehicles prior to the competition.
After a fun-filled and highly competitive day of action which saw the model rocket cars reached speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, Rydal Penrhos, Ysgol Craig Y Don and Ysgol Bryn Elian were eventual winners and will now compete in the regional heats in April for a chance to win a trip to South Africa to watch Bloodhound SSC challenge for the World Land Speed Record.
Mr Sutton, said: “It’s been a very successful day with the main focus to engage young people in Engineering in a fun and educational way.”
