School claims treble triumph
No fewer than five pupils came away with something to show for their efforts from the Chester Music Festival, which was held on Saturday, May 6.
Among those to achieve first place was Year 8 pupil Bella Rutherford, who emerged victorious in the Grade Two and Under Cello class after a stunning display.
There was further success in the form of Alicia Zhou, who took the 20 or 21st Century Open Piano Class in fine style, which meant the 13-year-old was the recipient of the Chester Piano Cup.
The school secured a winning treble courtesy of gifted Year 7 pupil Ethan Bytheway, who produced a fantastic piece to win the 12 and Under Solo Brass Class.
Vocalist Arthur Hind narrowly missed out on the 17 and Under Vocal Duet Category with Prep pupil Caitriona Searl, who will be joining the Senior School next year on a Music and Academic Scholarship.
The pair finished just one point off top spot despite competing against older and more experienced opposition.
Sammy Jones also competed admirably in a very tough woodwind class, making it another successful haul by the school at the event.
