Year 9 take part in challenge
Year 9 pupils channelled their inner baker in the pursuit of competition glory.
The group competed against each other during a Food and Nutrition lesson on Thursday, May 4, which was a special technical challenge where they were tasked with designing and making a selection of homemade rolls.
They were given just 90 minutes to fully complete the task of making the dough, shaping it, proving it and baking it before presenting the final results to be judged.
The task of running the rule over the creations fell to Rydal Penrhos’ very own Paul Hollywood, Head of Business Studies and ICT Mike Farnell.
After a thorough judging process, Sam Bixby came away with the overall crown, with Harri Jones and Niamh Cook finishing in second and third respectively.
Each of the selections received a cookery book as a result of their fine efforts.
Mrs Williams, said: “The overall standard was incredibly high but every pupil in the group managed to produce six 'well-shaped' bread rolls which is very commendable given the time constraints."
