Pre-Prep and Prep hold double event
Talented athletes battled it out for bragging rights at our annual Pre-Prep Sports Day.
The young prep school sports stars competed in a series of events on Friday, May 26 in-front of a packed out audience of parents, families and staff on a gorgeous day on the plateau.
After events including hurdles, obstacles, egg and spoon, relays and sprints, Brecon emerged victorious by a narrow margin in what was a highly competitive competition, with Floyd Curtis and Harry Nurse picking up the trophy from Prep School head Mr McDuff.
There were a host of exceptional performances throughout the morning, with the battle for supremacy between James Davies and Shane Ayeni catching the eye in a number of races.
Mr McDuff, said: “The standard was incredibly high once again and all our pupils can be immensely proud of their efforts.
“We are very lucky to have a great deal of athletic talent here at Rydal Penrhos, and they did themselves and the school proud during the entire event.
“Congratulations to Brecon on their victory and I would like to thank all staff and parents who attended the event.”
Following the Pre-Prep showcase it was then the turn of the Prep to take centre stage, and Snowdon emerged victorious.
House members Christian Cheesley, Lily Davies, George Watkins and Martha Hind picked up the coveted trophy from Mr McDuff.
There were a number of impressive individual performances throughout the event, with the likes of Cieran Milligan and Jonathan Osbourne once again demonstrating their immense athletic talent throughout.
There were also a number of girls who performed well, with Ella Northcott catching the eye with a series of victories, with Caitriona Searl, Ariana Milligan, Fleur Pierce and Eleanor Tunstall putting in some stylish performances throughout the event.
Mr McDuff, said: “It was an immensely hot day and everyone that took part coped with the conditions extremely well.
"There were some outstanding individual performances throughout, and the sportmanship showed by every pupil was fantastic and they did themselves and the school proud.
"Congratulations to all at Snowdon on their victory and to all that made the event such a success once again."
