Trio qualify for national championships
No fewer than three pupils achieved success at the IAPS Area 7 Athletics event in Manchester, and they will no test their skills against athletes from across the country at the IAPS Finals in Birmingham later this year.
The first to gain recognition was George Watkins, who produced a stunning effort to claim the Javelin event in fine style.
There was further success in the form of Lily Davies, who once again showed her immense potential by winning the 800 metre race, while Eve Durrans followed her schoolmate into the national showcase with a superb triumph in the 1,500 metres.
Narrowly missing out was sprint sensation Jonathan Osbourne, who finished second in the 100m despite clocking a personal best time.
Mr McLeod, said: “This is yet another sensational achievement by our sporting stars, who continue to lead the way thanks to their natural ability and commitment.
“To have three members of the squad going to the national final is a simply wonderful achievement, while Jonathan also showed how much he is developing as an athlete by running a personal best time.
“Well done to George, Lily and Eve and everyone at Rydal Penrhod wishes them the very best at the nationals.”
