Group 6 - Arts. Offered at HL and SL
IB Visual Art is a rigorous pre-university course of study, designed to empower students to become knowledgeable and inquiring as well as caring and compassionate citizens of the world. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging students to develop intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and the attitudes necessary to respect and evaluate a range of points of view.
It is designed to build on prior knowledge and experience in the visual arts as well as develop new skills, techniques and ideas. It is highly recommended that any student wanting to take Visual Art has completed a GCSE course or equivalent.
You should have completed to at least a C level a GCSE or IGCSE art & design course. In addition you should also be prepared to commit substantial amounts of time to this subject.
There is a very wide variety of further courses and career routes that can start with a passion for art. Architecture, painting, advertising and marketing, fashion, gallery and museum work, interior design are but a few of the paths that are available and have been followed by former Aiglon students.
