When selecting the right mixture of subjects, students should bear the following in mind:
- Each student should choose 3 HL and 3 SL subjects (4 HL subjects should be chosen if HL Maths is selected)
- the same subject cannot be taken at both HL and SL
- the same language cannot be taken in both Group 1 and Group 2. English MUST be taken in either Group 1 or 2.
- bilingual students may take two Language A courses
Students should consider that IGCSE results are the best indicator of a student’s ability level in each subject, and should be used as a guiding principle when deciding what IBDP subjects to select.
University intentions - both location and course - should also be considered.
Final IB examinations occur in May of the Year 13. Most subjects have 2 - 3 exams. Each subject also contains Internal Assessment which are spread out through the school year. Internal Assessment is typically 20% of the final IB grade.
