Pupil video highlights benefits
A group of pupils have been speaking on the benefits of boarding life as part of a nationwide initiative.
The four pupils were part of a special video created by Communications Assistant Mr Jones as the school lent its support to National Boarding Week.
It was officially aired on social media to a large response on Thursday, June 22.
Lithuanian boarder Augustas Skierus, aged 16, said: “What attracted me to boarding at Rydal Penrhos was the diversity of cultures, and that you can have the chance to practice different languages with people from different countries.
“For example at the moment I am currently learning Russian from scratch.”
Ukrainian pupil Ivan Shamrai, added: “Even though I am an International Baccalaureate pupil I can always ask advice from anyone and they will know how to help me.
“I am currently doing rugby and music but the range of activities we have to choose from is fantastic, and you have the chance to do anything you want really.”
Lower Sixth pupil Emily Li, who was part of the British Mathematical Olympiad this year, stated that the extra-curricular aspect of Rydal Penrhos is something that is a “big difference”, and highlighted her recent efforts during her Duke of Edinburgh expedition as an example of a “challenging and fun” activity.
This is part of a series of activities that the school has organised in support of National Boarding Week, which has been set-up to highlight the benefits of choosing a boarding school education including strong pastoral care, excellent learning and teaching and first-class facilities, in addition to the extensive activities outside the classroom and the chance for pupils to forge lifetime friendships.
