Trio receive prestigious grant
The mayor of Colwyn Bay presented three pupils with grants for their high level of achievement in various fields.
Cllr Jeff Pearson presented the awards on behalf of the trustees of the Sir John Henry Morris Jones Trust, which was set up in 1975 at the request of the former MP and GP’s will, with young people under the age of 19 from the Colwyn area invited to apply.
Will Sissons and Imogen Camp have been given grants for their efforts in Cricket and Chess respectively, while Music sensation Niamh Cook was another successful applicant.
Cllr Pearson, said: “It is wonderful to know that our town can produce such a wealth of dedicated and talented young people and I congratulate all the award recipients and wish them all the best for the future.
“I would also like to thank their parents, teachers, coaches and mentors for their hard work and support.”
Imogen has continued her sensational young career with further success this year, with the Welsh international becoming a senior national champion after a fine effort.
Gifted pianist Niamh has thrilled audiences at various concerts in recent months, and also passed her Grade 8 piano exam despite only being a Year 9 pupil.
Former Wales U15 captain Will has enjoyed another standout year at the crease, and was part of the Llandudno side that were recently crowned North Wales Premier Division champions.
