Year 7 learn about healthy eating
Year 7 pupils ended their Food and Nutrition exploits for the academic year with a special task.
The group got the chance to learn about and make their very own fruit smoothies as part of their final Home Economics lesson last week with Mrs Williams on Friday, June 30.
They found out about the benefits of drinking smoothies and what nutritional value they have, before trying out some for themselves after choosing their own combination of different fruits.
As a reward for all their hard work throughout the academic year, every pupil then had the opportunity to put their best foot forward in the kitchen and come up with their very own healthy eating cookie, which produced some fantastic and tasty results.
After their baking had concluded, the class then had the chance to sit and relax with Mrs Williams, who left at the end of the academic year.
She said: “All of our Year 7 have worked so hard and thrown themselves into everything that has been put in-front of them this year, and it was great to finish on a high with yet more superb work.
“They have been a pleasure to teach this year and this final task was something of a reward for them, while also emphasising the importance of healthy eating and how it can be beneficial to everyday life.”
