Year 6 sign off in style
Pupils and staff closed out the academic year in style at an annual social event.
The school held its annual Leavers’ Lunch on Friday, July 7, where staff, parents, family members and pupils gathered together for one final meal before they headed off on their summer break.
The event marked the end at the Prep School for both the Year 6 group and all other pupils that were departing.
Catering staff at the school put on a lavish buffet for those in attendance, who also included Senior School Headmaster Simon Smith, who will be taking a more prominent role at the site due to Mr McDuff’s departure.
Mr McDuff, said: “As always our catering staff did a phenomenal job of putting on an amazing spread for our Leavers’ Lunch, which is a fantastic way for us to thank each departing pupil and their families for all their hard work and support throughout their time with us at Rydal Penrhos.
“It was especially poignant for me as it was my final event before leaving the school, and the last few days have been very emotional and they are memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.
“Our Year 6 group have been a real credit to everyone here and we are confident that they are all going to flourish when the make the trip down the hill to Rydal Penrhos’ senior site, and I wish them the very best of luck.”
Talented performers brought the curtain down on their time with us at a special performance.
The Year 6 class performed a fantastic series of sketches and musical ensembles as part of their annual Café Dolphin show, which took place at the School Hall on Wednesday, July 5.
Among the highlights was a rap duo by Zac Roberts and Oliver Davies, while a number of girls took on the role of One Direction for an eye-catching cameo.
The show opened with the cult classic YMCA, before the Year 6 pupils closed out the performance with the chart smash hit Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake.
This is the latest in a series of activities and events to mark the end of the pupils’ time at Rydal Penrhos Prep, and comes just a few weeks after their sensational musical The Lion King, which thrilled crowds over two nights.
Mr McDuff, said: “As always with this group of pupils, it was hugely entertaining and they are to be congratulated on another stunning effort.
“Their enthusiasm and confidence on stage is infectious and it is a testament to the young people they are growing into thanks to the fabulous work of the staff here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Congratulations also go to Mrs McDuff, Mr McLeod and all other staff that helped make the show a success."
