Biscuit themed mock event held
We held our own biscuit-themed Mock General Election on Thursday, June 8, where both Prep and Pre-Prep groups were given the task of choosing their favourite party during break.
Each party leader was placed next to a tray of biscuits, and the Year 1-6 classes were given seven options: Conservative, Green, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru, UKIP, and None of the Above.
Headmaster Mr McDuff oversaw proceedings, while deputy head Mrs Hind and teacher Mrs Davies tallied the votes, and there was a fabulous 100 per cent turnout from pupils.
After the results were counted, the Conservative Party were announced as the runaway winners after totalling 59 percent of the overall ballot, with the Green Party coming in second with 19%.
Labour finished in third with 14% of the votes, while Plaid Cymru (4%), the Liberal Democrats (3%), None of the Above (2%) and UKIP (1%) rounding off the standings.
The Green Party came out on top in the Pre-Prep vote, while not a single vote was cast for UKIP in the Prep stage of the Mock General Election.
Mr McDuff, said: “This is a great to get our young children engaged in politics and give them a taste of what choices they will be faced with in years to come.
“It was very interesting to see the different ways the pupils were voting and what methods they were using, and it was a very worthwhile exercise that caught their imagination.”
