School earns silver award
Our Eco Committee, which is run by teacher Mrs Woodthorpe, achieved its Silver Award through the Green Tree Schools scheme, which run by conservation charity the Woodland Trust.
The school have taken part in a number of activities which have contributed to the award, including a writing competition last year by Year 3 pupils, and sharing an assembly created by the Trust about ‘The Man Who Planted Trees’.
Committee members and other prep pupils will now begin working hard on gaining a Green Flag award from the charity, which will involve Woodland Trust representatives visiting the school for a eco-based inspection to determine whether or not they are worthy of the honour.
Mrs Hind, said: “This is further proof of the truly remarkable work being done by our Eco Committee, and I would like to personally thank Mrs Woodthorpe for her tireless efforts to ensure our Prep School is a more environmentally friendly place to work and learn.
“To receive a silver award from the trust is a significant achievement and one the committee is richly deserving of, and each pupil should feel an enormous sense of accomplishment as a result of their efforts.”
