Footballers get taste of Premier League life
The U11 side travelled to the multi-million pound academy complex of Manchester City for a special IAPS tournament, which also featured a number of other schools from across the North West.
There were a number of notable performances throughout the tournament, which included a thrilling penalty shootout win over The Ryleys School thanks to some outstanding saves from talented goalkeeper Liam Farrell.
Others who caught the eye were Henry Hibbert and Ethan Akroyd, while the team were marshalled superbly by skipper James Gilman.
After the competition they were given an all-access tour of the Citizens’ Etihad Stadium, which saw them walk the same halls as the likes of Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, who have starred for the Premier League leaders this term.
They also went down the players’ tunnel, in addition to the directors’ box, changing rooms and the press room where manager Pep Guardiola speaks to the media.
Mr McLeod, said: “The tournament was yet another hugely valuable experience for each pupil that took, and it really gives them a sense of the magnitude of what it takes to perform at a Premier League club."
