Environment topic aids learning
The Early Years group took part in a host of activities throughout the half term, which have been implemented as part of their studies on the environment, both regionally and globally.
Among the things they took part in was a walk around the local area, using construction toys to make models of the region and discussing features of the environment to improve their knowledge.
To aid with their creative development, the group also painted pictures of landmarks in the area, made junk models of buildings, while the mathematical phase featured using comparative and positional language and shaping pictures.
Making a collection of words, singing descriptive words and recording people who live and work in the local environment were part of their literacy and communication skill development, with the cooking part of the programme featuring a variety of different foods from around the world.
They have also discovered more about prominent areas including Antarctica and the Rainforest, in addition to becoming more aware about the impact climate change is having worldwide.
Mrs Roberts, said: “Our staff do a wonderful job of keeping the children thoroughly engaged thanks to their fantastic learning programme, which is a key component in the enormous success the department has achieved in recent times.”
