School-led scheme a success
Staff implemented a Summer Reading Challenge for pupils across all age groups, which was organised with a view to setting goals and enhancing learning throughout the break.
The initial target set by the challenge is to read five books and produce two book reports during the holidays, with many pupils surpassing this target and reading upwards of 25 books as a result of their dedication and commitment to the scheme.
Year 6 Isabella Peevor drew gasps from the young members of the school as Mr Smith announced she had read a highly impressive 20 books throughout the holidays, which were the highest of those announced at our weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, September 29.
A host of other pupils also received certificates as a results of their reading efforts, with many also reaching the teens as a result of their outstanding dedication to the scheme.
Mrs Hind, said: “Our Reading Challenge is something that has been a very worthwhile initiative in recent years at Rydal Penrhos, and it was great to see so many across all year groups get involved once again.
“Isabella did remarkably well to get through 20 books in a relatively short space of time, and congratulations go to her and indeed to everyone that took part.”
