Trio gain Engineering scholarship
Arend Franssens, Ioan Peake-Jones and Prompt Utenpattanun, Year 12 pupils at Rydal Penrhos, all successfully came through a thorough assessment process and have been awarded Arkwright Engineering Scholarships to continue the exceptional work already done by the trio in their chosen field.
The scholarship is offered to UK pupils to pursue a career in engineering, computing and related areas of technical design.
All three have been or will be paired with a sponsor, which is normally a business within the industry, and they will also attend a formal ceremony acknowledging their outstanding achievement at a later date.
As well as a variety of enrichment opportunities associated with the scholarship, Arend, Ioan and Prompt will receive £300 a year to assist with their technical studies and wider experience of engineering.
Rydal Penrhos’ thriving Design and Technology department, which continues to go from strength-to-strength under the guidance of Phil Sutton and his dedicated staff team, will also be given £200 to help with the of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Mr Cashell, said: “We are very proud of Arend, Ioan and Prompt for securing such a sought-after scholarship, and full credit goes to them and to Mr Sutton for giving them the best possible chance of success."
