West End Stage School lead role for pupil
Ruby James once again attended the West End Stage for the fifth consecutive year during the holidays, which is regarded as the top drama school of its kind in the country for young people aged eight to 21.
The passionate 17-year-old joined other young hopefuls at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the one-week programme, where notorious actors such as Ewan McGregor, Daniel Craig and Orlando Bloom all trained.
After impressing the coaches considerably, the Prefect was chosen as the lead role of Ariel for the performance of The Little Mermaid to conclude the week.
This included a singing and dance solo during their depiction of the Walt Disney classic, and Ruby will continue to pursue her dream over the half term break at a special intensive course to improve her chances of securing a place at Drama School.
The two-day course, which is also run by West End Stage, will be held at Glass House Studios and go through a wealth of different elements of the application process, including interview techniques and performance during devised pieces.
Ruby has been a huge part of the Performing Arts success at Rydal Penrhos in recent years, playing a prominent role in the outstanding Dramatic Society performances of To Kill a Mockingbird and Annie the Musical.
