‘Cool as the other side of the pilllow’, Badminton is a brilliant way to keep fit and agile. It is a one of the fastest racquet sports around, played using racquets to hit a shuttle cock over a net. The sport has raw athleticism, speed, agility, power and most of all fun; all of which combine to make a great way to keep fit and alert. The option is open to girls and boys of all abilities.
A perfect chance for the school's aspiring Rugby players to enhance their potential in a socially distanced coaching environment.
This will give each pupil involved a chance to work on technique, passing and other vital areas during the early stages of their development.
A weekly opportunity to revise and draft artwork in the Studio with support and guidance available. A must for GCSE and A Level students to assist with portfolio development.
Lower years individual own art work (A level Catch up)
In this club, pupils will explore ways of looking after themselves in order to help deal with or prevent stress. Each week will differ in order to explore a wide range of self-care ideas.
Activities will include basic yoga stretches, mindfulness and meditation, mindful creative activities, discussion, a basic look at essential oils and much more…..
For those pupils who either do not take a science subject (Years 12 and 13) or who do not want to access that week’s clinic, there will be a Prep Club.
This will be run by a member of the Science Faculty so help can be provided for science subjects or pupils can complete any other prep they have been set.
Brush up on your musical skills in a fun and relaxed setting with our Music Garage, which will be held with a member of staff and go through everything from basic skills to more advanced elements.
Pupils will engage in a variety of sports from week to week. This extra-curricular activity will give the pupils the opportunity to engage in physical activity, whilst socialising with peers and learning new skills.
There will be an emphasis on the pupils' well-being, both physical and mental, during this activity.
Philosophy: The Big Questions
Developing students' ability to interrogate information, tackle profound questions and construct compelling arguments. We will explore topics, including: epistemology; the philosophy of mind; the philosophy of religion; metaethics; applied ethics, aesthetics and political philosophy. When circumstances allow we will also invite professional philosophers and academics to give talks on the topics we study.
Those attending the Creative Writing Club will be working in the I.T. suite to write and edit stories on the theme of TRAPPED.
In addition to improving valuable skills and igniting imagination, their work will then be entered in the national SOS Saga competition.
Rydal Penrhos' exceptional outdoor education provision will be sampled by each member of the Year 8 group, who will gain new skills, sample different experiences and build a resistance for challenging situations.
This makes significant use of the beautiful North Wales landscape which is all part of a Rydal Penrhos education.
Debate Club's aim is to empower pupils with the skills of expressing their beliefs clearly and concisely, critical thinking and confident communication in a formal setting.
It can also help pupils to become more informed about current events in the world and improve their general knowledge on topical matters.
