Pre-School Statement of Purpose
Introduction & Registration body
Rydal Penrhos Ltd is registered for day care and play, for up to *100 children, with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW).
Rydal Penrhos Ltd will comply with The Regulation of Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Order 2016 & the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2002/2010, in line with the Children Act 1989 and, wherever possible, will exceed the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years.
The language of instruction in the setting in English but Welsh is referred to daily in activities and displays.
Our day care and play provision consists of 3 elements:
Rydal Penrhos welcomes families and children from all nationalities, regardless of gender, culture, religion and special need. The setting is registered to provide care for up to *100 children from 2 years to 12. Children are assessed on stage ability rather than age ability.

Opening Hours:
• The Pre- School is open from 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (Term time only). • Wrap around care operates from 8- 8.30 and 3.30pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday (term time only). • The Holiday Play Scheme is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, outside the published school term dates, as advertised. We are closed at weekends, statutory Bank Holiday (including a one-week period over the Christmas Holidays).
Staffing:
Rydal Penrhos implements and adheres to a strict recruitment and suitable person policy and procedure. All staff will have an Enhanced DBS and two current references.
The ‘Person in Charge’ of the Pre- School holds a level five qualification, and all other Pre- School Assistants are qualified to level three in child care and education.
Wrap around care is overseen by a qualified teacher and run on a daily basis by staff with minimum NVQ 3 in childcare.
The Holiday Play Scheme is run by qualified staff as ‘persons in charge’ of the day to day management of the club, supported by qualified staff who work in the School or Pre- School during term time.
Other employed support staff, students and volunteers are a valuable asset to the setting but they will never be left unsupervised (students and volunteers are not counted into staff ratios).
Domestic and office staff also hold enhanced DBS checks as many have daily contact with children, whilst not responsible for their day-to-day care.
Rydal Penrhos has a training policy in place to ensure that all staff have current training for Safeguarding & Child Protection, and sufficient staff have higher level First Aid training to ensure that the facility always has a first-aider on site. Ongoing developmental training is in place to keep up with the ever-changing legislation and procedures relevant to childcare provision.
There is a Senior Designated Person for safeguarding within the Pre- School, along with a Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Prep School and all provisions within it.
